JR Motorsport Evo X enters Time Attack round at Brands

The JR Motorsports prepared Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Series car went out on the first ever track test on Friday (19th June) at Oulton Park. Driver by Julian Westwood and the team were delighted how well the car performed on the test day.

JR MotorsportNext was a competitive outing at Brands Hatch for the UK Time Attack series. JR Motorsports prepared Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X performed faultless throughout the day, when driver Julian Westwood brought the car home to record an impressive fourth in class – the performance also good enough to secure a position in the top-ten overall times.

Considering the car was running 400BHP and was up against cars running 800 plus BHP and being a lot lighter, this was an outstanding result and proves with the correct handling set-up what you can achieve.

What’s even more special about the Evo X Series car is they use the new Carbonetic Blade paddle clutch, these are used in all of their Evo’s Inc the Grp N rally car.

When I asked how the clutched performed, I was told performed without any issues, no slip, puts the power down extremely well while also increasing the shifting between gear changes due to the lightweight nature of the clutch disc.

It’s great that we can work a long side teams like JR Motorsport as it helps us to further improve our products.

350zProduct news from the USA – New 370Z Carbon LSD

We have received our first feedback of the CARBONETIC LSD for the Nissan 370Z from Mike of Double Down Motorsports! Mike has prior experience with CARBONETIC LSD and decided to share his thoughts on the new application.

“Just wanted to let you know that I finally got that LSD installed in the 370Z and absolutely love it so far on the street.” – Mike

(extract from his review)
“Initial impressions are better than expected. I have experience with this diff in my old 350Z race car, however, the race car also had solid differential mounts, no interior, and a loud exhaust so I wasn’t quite sure on how much noise it would actually make in the 370Z with full interior, stock cat-back exhaust, and regular diff mounts. The instructions say that the diff will emit the most noise immediately after install and the noise will quiet down as the diff breaks in. Well, I heard no noise at all from in the car right after install. I performed the break in procedure and still no noise! I can also tell you that it is not at all jerky like most other 1.5 way LSDs I have tried. Starting from a stop and tight radius turns were all very smooth. This is an incredibly streetable LSD and I vow that whatever cars I have in the future will have a Carbonetic LSD in it. I haven’t pushed the limits of the car on the streets with the diff yet as I haven’t changed the oil after break in, but like I said, I have experience with the Carbonetic diff in my old 350Z race car and it performed incredibly so I am not at all worried.” Mike

RSE Motorsport wins again!

With the cars having barley enough time to cool down from the first round of time attack before you know the second round has taken place at the Knockhill circuit.

RSE MotorsportAnd guess what? It was another good day for the RSE Motorsport team! Once again their Mitsubishi Evo took the title for fastest lap of the day allowing them to clinch maximum points in the Pro Class at Knockhill. Chris Ward who piloted their car to victory in Round One at Oulton Park was absent for the trip to Scotland, so the RSE team called in the services of Formula Ford driver, Rory Butcher. Rory flew around the Knockhill track breaking the lap record previously held by Olly Ckark. (52.186)

The RSE Team managed an impressive 51.666sec lap in the 700bhp machine, which was more than enough to win on the day.

DYC James RusselDCY James Russel comes 6th at the first round of the EDC

The start of the EDC kicked off along side the 2009 Time attack series and with a new Point scoring system and new drivers there was plenty of action to keep the crowds going wild.

The day started out with just one qualifying battle, the fifteen remaining drivers survived the luck of the draw to gain automatic places in the last sixteen.

That sixteen soon became a final eight though. Steve Evans in his Toyota Starlet fell off the track in both his runs to hand James Russell a pass to the next round.

James managed a very respectable 6th place, considering not much testing had take place and the car was only really finished the night before we are very happy for him and the DCY team.

We can see this year that James will be the one to watch up for.

James Skyline was using the Carbonetic Twin plate clutch and the DEFTFORCE Carbonetic Drift specific LSD.

RSE Motorsport Wins First RoundRSE Motorsport wins the first round of Time Attack at Oulton Park

The first round of UK time attack is probably the real sign that the season has kicked off. And it looks like plenty of tuners in the UK have been busy tweaking their cars for the 2009 season.

The UK time attack is where you see the fastest cars/tuners battle it out; it’s the bench mark of tuning and performance, oh and not forgetting driver skill.

Round one took place at Oulton Park, the rain early on the skies had soon cleared over the Cheshire circuit and the sun shone most heavily on Chris Ward in the RSE Motorsport EVO VIII. Pulling out all the stops in the Super Battle Final, Ward managed to pip reigning Champion Olly Clark and his legendary ‘Gobstopper’ Impreza to the top spot of the podium, taking the well-deserved honors in Pro Class in the process.

RSE Motorsport is sponsored by Carbonetic and we are over the moon with their result. The RSE Evo 7 is running our Carbonetic Triple plate clutch and a front Carbonetc 1.5 way LSD.

Well done guys, we look forward to a great year a head with you!
